The Land Act 1999

According to The land act 1999, all land shall continue to be public land and remain vested in the President as trustee for and on behalf of all the citizens of Tanzania. Foreign companies or foreign individuals (investors) are not allowed to own land but can be leased through Tanzania Investment Center (TIC), which issues a Derivative Right (a leasehold agreement) for duration starting from 32 to 98 years.
